Bass Pro Shops Ad

In the spring of my third year at UVA, I took a course entitled "Advertising Media and Culture." This class taught students about the history of advertising, what makes a good campaign, and how ads are integrated into society today and affect many decisions that humans make. Additionally, we were given the opportunity to make an advertisement in the form of a video for our final course project.

My group members and I wanted to create a commercial that advertises to a somewhat unlikely audience, so we decided to make an ad for Bass Pro Shops, but instead of targeting those that like to fish and hunt, we targeted teens and young adults that wear Bass Pro Shops merchandise and use their equipment for the aesthetic appeal.

There is a sort of humor in the fact that influencers and younger generations are beginning to wear Bass Pro Shops products, as they are not doing so for its intended purpose, so we wanted to parallel this humor in our project by filming ourselves fishing around UVA - at the gym (specifically in the hot tub which is the second largest east of the Mississippi!), at the lake near dorms, and the vent outside of Newcomb dining hall.
